Description
A savory and festive roasted duck for Thanksgiving.
Ingredients

- 1 whole duck (4–5 pounds)
- 2 oranges, quartered
- 1 onion, quartered
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Rinse the duck and pat it dry with paper towels.
- Season the duck with salt, pepper, and thyme inside and out.
- Stuff the cavity with oranges, onion, and garlic.
- Rub the outside with olive oil.
- Place the duck on a roasting pan breast side up.
- Pour chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
- Roast for about 2 hours, basting every 30 minutes.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C).
Notes
- Let the duck rest for 15 minutes before carving.
- Serve with your favorite sides.
- Adjust seasoning to taste.
