Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (1214 pounds)
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 lemon, quartered
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 cups fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry.
  3. Rub the turkey with olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  4. Stuff the cavity with lemon, onion, and fresh herbs.
  5. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth around it.
  6. Cover with aluminum foil and roast for 2.5 to 3 hours.
  7. Remove the foil and roast for another 30-60 minutes until the skin is golden brown.
  8. Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer to check if the turkey reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Letting the turkey rest enhances flavor.
