A delicious main course for Thanksgiving featuring roasted turkey with herbs.
Ingredients

- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
- 1 lemon, quartered
- 1 onion, quartered
- 4 cups chicken broth
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry.
- Rub the butter and olive oil all over the turkey.
- Season the turkey inside and out with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Stuff the cavity with lemon, onion, rosemary, and thyme.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan breast side up.
- Pour chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
- Cover the turkey with foil and roast for 2 hours.
- Remove the foil and roast for an additional 1 to 1.5 hours until golden brown.
- Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.

- Use a meat thermometer for accuracy.
- Let the turkey rest for better moisture retention.
- Save the drippings for gravy.
