Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove the giblets from the turkey cavity and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  3. In a bowl, mix the butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, and thyme.
  4. Rub the butter mixture under the skin and over the turkey.
  5. Stuff the cavity with lemon, onion, and stuffing if using.
  6. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour the broth around it.
  7. Cover the turkey loosely with foil.
  8. Roast for about 13-15 minutes per pound, basting occasionally.
  9. Remove the foil in the last hour to brown the skin.
  10. Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C).
  11. Let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.
