  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 4 cups chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
  4. Season the turkey with salt, pepper, thyme, and rosemary.
  5. Stuff the cavity with onion, carrots, and celery.
  6. Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a roasting pan.
  7. Pour chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
  8. Cover the turkey with foil and roast for 2.5 to 3 hours.
  9. Remove the foil and roast for an additional 30-60 minutes until the skin is golden brown.
  10. Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (74°C).
  11. Let it rest for 20-30 minutes before carving.

  • Use a meat thermometer for accurate cooking.
