- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 cups chicken broth
- Fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage)
- 1 lemon, halved
- 1 onion, quartered
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Remove the turkey giblets and pat the turkey dry.
- In a bowl, mix butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Rub the butter mixture all over the turkey, including under the skin.
- Stuff the cavity with lemon, onion, and fresh herbs.
- Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth around it.
- Cover the turkey with foil and roast for 2.5 hours.
- Remove the foil and roast for another 30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure the turkey reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Letting the turkey rest enhances juiciness.
- Save leftovers for sandwiches or soups.
