- 1 whole turkey (12–14 lbs)
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups chopped vegetables (carrots, celery, onion)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Prepare the turkey by removing the giblets and patting it dry.
- Rub the softened butter all over the turkey.
- Season the turkey with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary.
- Place the chopped vegetables in the roasting pan.
- Pour the chicken broth into the pan.
- Place the turkey on top of the vegetables in the pan.
- Roast the turkey for about 13-15 minutes per pound.
- Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness (165°F or 75°C in the thickest part).
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
- Always thaw the turkey in the refrigerator if frozen.
- Save the drippings for gravy.
- Brining the turkey can enhance flavor and moisture.
