Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, butter, and powdered sugar until crumbly.
  3. Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased baking pan.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
  5. In a saucepan, whisk together milk, egg yolks, granulated sugar, cornstarch, salt, and vanilla.
  6. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  7. Pour the custard over the baked crust.
  8. Bake for an additional 20 minutes.
  9. Let cool before cutting into squares.
