Description
Wisconsin apple kringle is a flaky pastry filled with spiced apples and topped with icing.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, chilled
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 3 cups apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add butter and cream cheese; mix until crumbly.
- Stir in cold water until dough forms.
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- In another bowl, mix apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Spread the apple mixture on one half of the dough.
- Fold the other half over and seal the edges.
- Cut slits on top for steam to escape.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Mix powdered sugar and milk to make icing.
- Drizzle icing over the warm kringle.

- Use tart apples for best flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
