Description

Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g all-purpose flour
  • 200g golden syrup
  • 75g lard
  • 1/2 tsp alkaline water
  • 200g lotus seed paste
  • 50g salted egg yolks
  • 1 egg wash (1 egg, beaten)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Mix flour, golden syrup, lard, and alkaline water in a bowl.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth.
  4. Divide dough into small balls.
  5. Flatten each ball and place lotus seed paste and salted egg yolk in the center.
  6. Wrap the dough around the filling and shape it into a ball.
  7. Press each ball into a mooncake mold.
  8. Place mooncakes on a baking sheet.
  9. Brush with egg wash.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

  • Let mooncakes cool before serving.
  • Store in an airtight container.
