Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for crumble)
  • 2 tablespoons cold butter (for crumble)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the bananas and mix in melted butter.
  3. Add baking soda and salt, mix well.
  4. Stir in sugar, egg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Mix in the flour until just combined.
  6. In another bowl, prepare the crumble by mixing brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  7. Pour the banana bread batter into a greased loaf pan.
  8. Sprinkle the crumble mixture on top of the batter.
  9. Bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  10. Let cool before slicing.

Notes

  • Store leftover bread in an airtight container.
  • Bananas should be very ripe for best flavor.
  • Can add nuts or chocolate chips for variation.
