Description
Peppermint sticks are a classic holiday treat that combine sweet candy and refreshing peppermint flavor.
Ingredients

- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
- 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
Instructions
- Combine sugar, corn syrup, and water in a saucepan.
- Heat over medium until sugar dissolves.
- Add cream of tartar and bring to a boil.
- Cook until mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Remove from heat and stir in peppermint extract and food coloring.
- Pour mixture onto a greased marble surface.
- Let cool slightly, then pull and twist into sticks.
- Allow to harden completely before serving.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container.
- Can be broken into pieces for decoration.
- Adjust food coloring for desired intensity.
