Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, corn syrup, and water in a saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium until sugar dissolves.
  3. Add cream of tartar and bring to a boil.
  4. Cook until mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  5. Remove from heat and stir in peppermint extract and food coloring.
  6. Pour mixture onto a greased marble surface.
  7. Let cool slightly, then pull and twist into sticks.
  8. Allow to harden completely before serving.
