Ingredients

- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1 egg, beaten
- Coarse salt for sprinkling
- Brown chocolate melts for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5 minutes until smooth.
- Divide dough into small pieces and roll into rods.
- Boil water with baking soda in a pot.
- Dip each pretzel rod into boiling water for 30 seconds.
- Place rods on a baking sheet and brush with beaten egg.
- Sprinkle with coarse salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Once cooled, decorate with melted chocolate.
Notes
- Store in an airtight container.
- Use different colored chocolate for variety.
- Serve with mustard or cheese dip.
