Ingredients

- 2 cups warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1 egg (beaten)
- Coarse sea salt for topping
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm water and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour, sugar, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5 minutes until smooth.
- Let the dough rise for 1 hour, covered, until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Divide the dough into small pieces. Shape each into a football.
- Boil water and baking soda in a pot. Add pretzels for 30 seconds.
- Remove pretzels and place on a baking sheet.
- Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sea salt.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
