Ingredients

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- Royal icing for decoration
- Assorted candies for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add molasses and egg to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and combine.
- Roll out the dough and cut shapes for the house.
- Bake the pieces for 10-12 minutes.
- Let them cool completely before assembling.
- Use royal icing to hold the pieces together and decorate with candies.

- Make sure the gingerbread pieces are cool before assembling.
- Use a template for easier cutting of house shapes.
- Let the icing dry completely before moving the houses.
