Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1 large egg
  • Royal icing for decoration
  • Assorted candies for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add molasses and egg to the butter mixture, then mix well.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut shapes for the town.
  7. Place shapes on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  8. Allow to cool completely before decorating with royal icing and candies.
