A festive gingerbread town made for the holidays.
Ingredients

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 large egg
- Royal icing for decoration
- Assorted candies for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Add molasses and egg to the butter mixture, then mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until combined.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut shapes for the town.
- Place shapes on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
- Allow to cool completely before decorating with royal icing and candies.
Notes
- Use a template for the gingerbread town pieces.
- Store decorated pieces in an airtight container.
- Plan to make the icing ahead of time for easier decorating.
