A classic homemade Dutch apple pie with a crumbly topping.
Ingredients

- 6 cups sliced apples
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 pie crust
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, mix apples, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour.
- Place the apple mixture into the pie crust.
- In another bowl, combine brown sugar, oats, flour, and softened butter to make the crumb topping.
- Sprinkle the crumb topping over the apples.
- Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 35-40 minutes.
- Cool before serving.
Notes
- For best results, use a mix of tart and sweet apples.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream for added flavor.
