Description

Rosca de Reyes is a traditional Mexican pastry enjoyed on Epiphany.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups milk, warm
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup candied fruits
  • 1/4 cup sliced almonds

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast in warm milk with a pinch of sugar.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat eggs and add melted butter.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients, then add yeast mixture.
  5. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes.
  6. Let the dough rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  7. Shape the dough into a ring and place on a baking sheet.
  8. Decorate with candied fruits and almonds.
  9. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
  10. Bake at 350°F for 25-30 minutes.
