Ingredients

- 4 pieces of fish fillets (catfish or tilapia)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Soak fish fillets in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
- Mix cornmeal, flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Remove fish from buttermilk and dredge in the cornmeal mixture.
- Fry the fish for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels before serving.
Notes
- Ensure oil is hot before adding fish.
- Use a thermometer to check oil temperature (350°F is ideal).
- Serve with lemon wedges and tartar sauce.
