- 2 cups sushi rice
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 sheets nori seaweed
- 1 cucumber, julienned
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 8 ounces cooked shrimp or crab
- Soy sauce, for serving
Instructions
- Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Cook the rice according to package instructions.
- In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Heat until dissolved.
- Once the rice is cooked, mix in the vinegar mixture and let it cool.
- Lay a sheet of nori on a bamboo mat.
- Spread a layer of sushi rice on the nori, leaving an inch at the top.
- Add a line of cucumber, avocado, and shrimp or crab in the center.
- Roll the sushi tightly, using the mat to help shape it into a heart.
- Slice the roll into pieces and arrange on a plate.
- Serve with soy sauce.
