  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  3. Bring to a boil without stirring. Cook until the temperature reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla, salt, and food coloring if desired.
  5. Pour mixture onto a greased baking sheet.
  6. Let it cool slightly and then cut into pieces.
