Ingredients

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Royal icing for decorating
  • Food coloring
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Add egg and vanilla; mix well.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients.
  6. Chill dough for 30 minutes.
  7. Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness.
  8. Cut into heart shapes and place on a baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are golden.
  10. Let cookies cool, then decorate with royal icing and sprinkles.
