Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons meringue powder
  • 6 tablespoons water
  • Food coloring (various colors)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla to the butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture and combine.
  6. Roll out the dough and cut shapes.
  7. Place cookies on a baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes.
  8. Let cookies cool completely.
  9. In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, meringue powder, and water to make the icing.
  10. Color the icing as desired and decorate the cookies.
